Cleaning your Cage

Cleaning your cage is important to do especially if your pig or pigs have a small cage.

SPOT CLEAN the cage every day which basically means take out only dirty bedding daily

COMPLETELY CLEAN out the cage about every week considering on the size of your cage.

Here's how to:

                                                             ~Vinegar Spray~

                                                            Half White Vinegar Half Water

CLEANING YOUR GUINEA PIG'S CAGE

Step 1: Take out all toys, food bowls, houses, and basically any items on the floor of the cage.

Step 2: Take a dust pan or put on gloves to remove the dirty bedding and throw away. Make sure you get all of it off the bottom of the area. Now, use the vinegar mix(top right) and spray the area with a thin layer of the liquid.

Step 3: Use a rag, washcloth, or paper towels to wipe the area clean and dry. Now replace with clean bedding(about 2-3 inches thick), and pat down. Replace all items you had in the cage, and you're done- just add guinea pigs!

Importance!

Your Guinea Pigs cage is VERY important. Store bought cages are NOT suggested for several reasons:

Their cages are much to small.
If you make your own cage, you can build it                  larger.
It's inexpensive.
Easily re-orderable - make it larger, or make is            smaller.
In some cases, safer for guinea pigs.

Many of the cages being sold at pet stores are not suitable for Guinea Pigs, even though they say they are. The cages in most pet stores consists of a bottom tray and a wire top. Some store bought cages have wire grid flooring. This flooring is the worst possible cage to get and should never be used to house a guinea pig.

Follow the cage-size standards above this paragraph for a happier, healthier, and all-around better guinea pig. Home-made cages are GREAT! You can build a C&C(cubes and chloroplast) cage by visiting
